Incident 1. A shepherd boy who lied out of boredom
옛날 어느 마을에 양을 치는 소년이 있었어요. 매일 똑같은 일만 하다 보니 심심해진 소년은 문득 장난을 치고 싶다는 생각을 하게 되었고, 늑대가
나타났다는 거짓말로 마을 사람들을 속였어요.
양치기 소년이 바랐던 것은 심심함을 날려줄 재미와 관심이었고, 그리고 인정해달라는 또다른 표현 방식입니다.
현재에서도 이미 어른이 된 양치기 소년과 소녀들을 우리는 볼 수 있습니다. 그들은 자신에 대한 인정을 바라는 것에서 시작해, 자극적인 정도가 점점 더해지다 무모하고 위험천만한 일을
벌이고, 그러다 정작 중요한 무엇인가를 잃어버리곤 합니다.

n a time in a village, there was a boy who shepherded the sheep. Had been doing the same thing every day, the bored boy suddenly wanted to play a prank, and deceived the villagers by lying that a wolf appeared. What the boy wanted was fun and attention to blow away the boredom, and another way of expressing that he wanted to acknowledge.
Even now, we can see shepherd boys and girls who have already grown up. They start by asking for recognition of themselves, and then they start to get more and more stimulating, and they get more and more stimulating, and do something reckless and dangerous. Then they lose something important.
Incident 2. The shepherd boy deceived the villagers
소년은 산 아래 마을을 향해 크게 소리쳤어요.
"늑대가 나타났다!
무서운 늑대가 나타났어요!
도와주세요! 늑대가 양을 다 잡아먹어요!"
늑대가 나타났다는 소년의 말에 마을 사람들은
몽둥이와 농기구를 들고 헐레벌떡 달려왔어요.
그런데 소년의 말이 거짓말이었다는 사실을 알고
소년을 꾸짖으며 마을로 다시 내려갔어요.
The boy shouted loudly at the village down the mountain.
"A wolf has appeared!
A scary wolf appeared!
Help! The wolf eats all the sheep!"
When he said that a wolf appeared, the villagers rushed with a club and farm equipment.
But when they found out that it was a lie, they went back down to town scolding the boy.
Incident 3. The shepherd boy lied again
며칠이 지나고, 양을 돌보다가 심심해진 소년은
다시 마을을 향해 소리쳤어요.
또 급하게 언덕 위로 올라온 마을 사람들을 보고
소년은 "하하하, 또 거짓말이에요. 늑대는 없어요."
라며 웃었어요.
마을 사람들은 "참 나쁜 아이구나. 다음에 또 그러면
도와주지 않을 거다."라며 잔뜩 화가 난 채로 언덕을
내려갔어요.
A few days later, become bored again while shepherd the sheep, the boy shouted at the village again.
The villagers also came up to the hill in a hurry again.
Seeing them, he laughed and said, "Hahaha, I lied again. There's no wolf."
The villagers angryly said, "What a bad boy. Next time, then we won't help you," and they went down.
Incident 4. The wolf really appeared
그러던 어느 날, 진짜 늑대가 나타났어요.
늑대는 양 떼 속에 들어가 양을 잡아먹으려고
날뛰었어요.
소년은 깜짝 놀라 마을을 향해 이번에는 진심으로
소리쳤어요.
"늑대다! 진짜 늑대가 나타났어요!
제발 도와주세요!“
Then one day, a real wolf appeared.
The wolf went into the flock and ran wild to eat the sheep.
The boy was surprised and shouted seriously at the village this time.
"Wolf! A real wolf has appeared!
Please help me!“
Incident 5. Villagers No Longer Helped
하지만 두번이나 소년에게 속았던 마을 사람들은
이번에도 거짓말이라고 생각했고,
소년을 도와주러 언덕을 올라오지 않았어요.
"저 녀석, 이번에도 또 거짓말을 하는군.
이번에는 속지 맙시다."
소년은 양들이 잡아먹히는 모습을 멍하니 바라볼 수밖에
없었답니다.
But the villagers, who had been tricked twice by the boy, thought it was a lie again, and didn't come up the hill to help the boy.
"He's lying again this time.
Let's not be fooled this time."
The boy had no choice but to stare blankly at the sheep being eaten.
